South Jersey Gas to Continue Construction on Tuckahoe Road, Upper Township

FOLSOM, NJ, October 18, 2016 – South Jersey Gas wants to alert residents, business owners, and motorists in Upper Township and Ocean City, New Jersey that work to install new underground 4 inch yellow plastic, natural gas main in the area will continue. Beginning Monday, October 24, weather permitting, Tuckahoe Road north of Church Road will be closed for approximately one week. Southbound traffic from Roosevelt Boulevard will remain open. Northbound traffic will be detoured eastbound to Church Road, continuing north onto Stagecoach Road and finally to Roosevelt Boulevard.

The installation work will take place Monday, October 24 through Saturday, October 29 between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. At the site, appropriate traffic control personnel will direct southbound traffic safely around the area.

At intervals along Tuckahoe Road excavations will be required to run the new pipe. Once the installation work is completed, final restoration will be completed promptly. This last step will repair any disturbed grass areas, and any earlier temporary patching will be restored with concrete and asphalt.

South Jersey Gas, along with all prequalified contractors working on this project, will take steps to ensure public safety while completing this work.

Installation of the main is due to the growing popularity of natural gas. Natural gas is a proven, cost-effective, reliable and safe household energy resource.

If residents have questions or would like more information about this project, please contact the South Jersey Gas Cape May Division at (609) 465-2900 and reference the Tuckahoe Road Natural Gas Expansion Project.
