South Jersey Gas Announces 2021 First Responders Grant Program Winners
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., November 29, 2021 – Today, South Jersey Gas, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries (NYSE: SJI), announced the winners of its annual First Responders Grant Program. This year, 16 grants totaling nearly $67,000 were awarded to local first responder departments.
“The South Jersey Gas First Responders Grant Program enables our company to give back to organizations whose continued efforts keep our customers and communities safe,” said Brent Schomber, President and COO, South Jersey Gas. “As we come into the holiday season, we are proud to partner with this year’s winners to support their work and future initiatives.”
The 2021 First Responders Grant Program recipient departments include:
- Winslow Township Fire Department
- Absecon Fire Company
- Lawnside Fire Company
- Lower Township Police Department
- Vineland Fire Department
- Atlantic City Fire Department
- Glassboro Fire Department
- Upper Township Rescue Squad
- Alloway Township Fire Company
- Elwood Fire Company
- Middle Township Police Department
- Berlin Fire Company
- Carneys Point Police Department
- Brigantine Fire and EMS
- East Greenwich Police Department
- Stratford Police Department
Through the First Responders Grant Program, South Jersey Gas provides critical support to help operations, improve safety measures and/or provide training at local first responder departments. This year, grants were awarded to first responder departments to support the purchase of critical resources, including medical and first-aid gear, traffic flares, body armor, gas meters, fire hoses, communications equipment, safety cameras and personal protective equipment. With applications from first responder departments that serve municipalities across the utility’s service area, South Jersey Gas conducts a thorough and competitive selection process to determine the grant recipients.
