Energy Saving Tips

Easy ways to save energy and money throughout your home. Start today!

  • Replace heater and air conditioner air filters once a month.
  • Clean air registers and make sure they’re not blocked by furniture, carpeting or drapes.
  • Open your window coverings for natural light and warmth in the warmer months and close them in the cooler months.
  • Run ceiling fans counter-clockwise to circulate warm air and clockwise to push cool air down.
  • Turn off lights when you leave the room. Replace light bulbs with LED lights to save energy when the lights are on.
  • Unplug electronics when they’re not in use.
  • Using a smart thermostat makes saving energy simple and convenient – control your energy use from your smartphone, wherever you are.
  • Advanced Power Strips prevent power surges from damaging your electronics.

Kitchen, Laundry & Bathroom

  • Air dry dishes instead of using your dishwasher’s drying cycle.
  • Purchase appliances with the ENERGY STAR® label.
  • Repair leaky faucets promptly; a leaky faucet wastes gallons of water in a short period of time.
  • Install aerating, low-flow faucets and showerheads.
  • When boiling water, only use the amount of water you need – the more water, the more energy is used.
  • Run full loads in your dishwasher.

Living Room, Bedroom & Home Office

  • Turn off electronics when not being used.
  • Advanced Power Strips help avoid vampire load – plugged in TVs, stereos, computers, printers, Alexa, etc are still using energy even when they’re turned off.
  • Spotlight your workspaces. Only use the light you need.
  • LED bulbs use five times less energy and last up to 15 times longer than traditional incandescents.
  • Clear area around heating and cooling vents.
