South Jersey Gas to Host the Mark Cuban Foundation’s Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp for Third Consecutive Year
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ, June 12, 2023 – South Jersey Gas is proud to announce its partnership with the Mark Cuban Foundation to host an introductory Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamp at its Atlantic City headquarters this fall for local high school students.
Now in its third year as a host company, South Jersey Gas will host the camp over four consecutive Saturdays starting on October 14th and ending on November 4th. The student and parent application are now open at markcubanai.org/sjgpr. Students do not need any prior experience with computer science, programming or robotics to apply and attend.
“In addition to making STEM-related education more accessible, the Mark Cuban Foundation AI Bootcamp is a fun way for students to learn more about the topics that interest them,” said Leonard Brinson Jr., senior vice president and chief information officer, SJI. “We’re excited to deliver the program to local students this year, creating a lasting impact on the communities we serve.”
Founded in 2019, the Mark Cuban Foundation AI Bootcamp is a free, nationwide initiative offered to high school students interested in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. Over the course of four-half day sessions, students learn what artificial intelligence is and where they already interact with AI in their own lives. In addition, students learn the ethical implications of AI systems, including but not limited to TikTok recommendations, smart home assistants, facial recognition and self-driving cars. Participants will also learn how Large Language Models like ChatGPT function.
The Mark Cuban Foundation will accept applications for the South Jersey Gas Bootcamp until Friday, September 8th, 2023. To learn more about the camps, please visit markcubanai.org/faq. For more information about SJI and its subsidiaries, please visit sjindustries.com.
