How to Mark Out Your Property for New Service.
In preparation for natural gas service, the property owner is responsible for marking the location of all privately-run underground lines on the property using flags or marker spray, including, but not limited to:
Sprinklers
Septic Systems
Buried Oil and Propane Tanks
Underground Wells
Water and Sewer Lines
Invisible Pet Fences
Electric or Water Lines for Outbuildings
Flags are used to identify underground utility lines to show you where to avoid when working on your outside projects. Yellow flags are used to mark the natural gas lines. The yellow flags include a QR code if you're interested in finding out the type of work being done in the area. After you scan, you'll be directed to the One Call Search & Status form. Choose your county and enter your street name to find local information.
Markouts are used to show the contractor that something is buried underground. Without your property being marked out, we may not be able to install your natural gas service. South Jersey Gas will mark out public utilities including cable, electric and phone. You can also hire a private contractor to mark your property. Below is a list of contractors who can perform this service.
For more information about marking out your property, please watch this short video.
We look forward to having you as our customer and providing you with safe, reliable, affordable natural gas!
