Beware of Scammers

Don’t be a victim… be prepared.

Scammers may pretend to be from South Jersey Gas. Know the Scams.

  • Scammers try to trick utility customers into providing their personal or financial information.
  • Scammers use a variety of contact methods– phone, email, and may show up at your door.
  • Never provide your social security number or banking information to anyone initiating contact with you claiming to be a utility representative or requesting you to send money.
  • We will never require you to use only one type of payment.
  • We accept payment in the form of cash (at an SJG Customer Service Center only), check, or credit/debit card. We will never ask you to pay by prepaid cards including gift cards or through third party wire transfer or apps.
  • Always ask to see a company photo ID before allowing any utility worker into your home or business.

Report Fraudulent Activity

  • If you think you may have been a victim of a scam, call us at 1.888.766.9900and then file a report with your local police department.
