Celebrate Earth Day and brighten up your space with this fun, and affordable, DIY project kids (and kids at heart) will love!
Gather your supplies:
Mason jar, or similar container
Soil
Plant with roots (and buds or flowers, if you choose)
Colored glass beads, stones or marbles
Ribbon, yarn or string
Water
Put it together:
Fill the jar to the top with loose soil.
Place the beads inside the soil, alongside the jar, so they’re visible through the glass.
Make a hole in the center of the soil that’s big enough to fit all of the roots of your plant.
Place the plant inside the hole in the soil, and pat down the soil around the plant.
Tie the ribbon around the mouth of the jar, into a bow, for decoration.
Gently sprinkle or mist water on the new plant.
Find a spot to display your project, so everyone can enjoy it!

Recycling tip:
Use an empty, clean jar you would otherwise recycle, such as a jelly or pickle jar, instead of a Mason jar.
