When should a gas disconnect request be submitted for demolition or house raising?

It is recommended to submit the disconnect request paperwork several weeks in advance. The utility mark-out process requires approximately 5 business days. Typically, the disconnection is completed within 2 weeks after the request is made. Submitting the request as early as possible is advised.

How long does it take to disconnect gas service?

In most cases, disconnection will occur on or around the date specified on the disconnect form. Once the crew is on-site, the process of disconnecting gas service typically takes a few hours.

Is there a fee for disconnecting gas service?

Yes, the fee for disconnecting gas service is $332 per service.
*For duplexes with separate gas services for each unit, the fee applies to each individual service.

Is there a fee for re-establishing gas service?

Yes, there is a $45 fee to re-establish gas service, whether it is for a house raising, renovation, or demolition.

How long does it take to re-establish gas service?

For a house raising or renovation, if the meter location has not changed and the gas load has not increased, reconnection typically takes approximately 2 weeks. A reconnect form must be submitted, detailing all appliances and their BTU ratings. If the meter size needs adjustment, the process may take additional time to schedule the required mark-out. For demolished properties, a New Business Service request must be submitted through the Sales Department.
