South Jersey Gas has suspended residential service shut-offs due to non-payment to give customers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak additional time to pay their bills.

We're here to help - Review programs listed below and apply directly.

  • If you would like to speak with a Customer Service Representative about a Payment Arrangement on a pending or past due balance, please call 1.888.766.9900, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM and Saturday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
  • If you have a pending or past due balance and are not able to make any payments at this time due to the pandemic, please email us at We'll note your account and ask that you contact us back in 30 days to provide an update on your ability to pay at that time.

Financial Assistance programs are available:

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Online Applications Now Available. Customers with a household income at or below specific income limits can apply. Utility heating customers typically receive an average of $300 toward their electric or gas bill. Apply online or call 1.800.510.3102.

Universal Service Fund (USF)

If you apply for LIHEAP, you are also applying for Universal Service Fund (USF). Electric or gas utility customers can receive from $5 to $150 per month toward their utility bills. USF accepts applications year round. Apply online or call 1.800.510.3102.

Payment Assistance Gas and Electric (PAGE)

Customers may be eligible for combined assistance (gas and electric) for up to $1,500 per year towards their past due bill in a 12-month period. The PAGE Grant benefits homeowners and renters facing economic hardship who are NOT RECEIVING USF or LIHEAP benefits. Applicants must also be facing a crisis situation that includes a documented notice of overdue payment for gas and have a history of making regular payments toward their utility bills. Lifeline Assistance Program

Lifeline is a utility assistance program that offers $225 to individuals who meet the eligibility requirements of the Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled program or who receive Supplemental Security Income. For more information, please visit the website or call 800.792.9745

HomeServes Cares Foundation

Aid for homeowners faced with a service emergency who (1) do not have a service plan, the necessary funds to cover emergency home repairs and no other funding sources available for the repairs; and (2) for whom delay in repair will cause a serious health and safety hazard. NJ Comfort Partners is a free energy saving and energy education program for qualified low-income customers. The program helps you save energy and money while making your home more energy-efficient.
