VETS Food Drive for the Red Cross Service to Armed Forces
Our Veterans Engagement Team (VETS) collected 4,893 pounds of food -- which is enough to feed 272 families! On February 26, 2022, VETS held a food drive with the Red Cross by setting up collection points throughout New Jersey and encouraged customers, employees and families from SJI’s utility companies South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas to drop off non-perishable items. Volunteers then delivered several truckloads of food to the Red Cross for distribution at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
VETS is an employee resource group at SJI that supports the personal growth and professional development of former servicemen and women. The Red Cross Service to Armed Forces program provides home comforts and critical services on bases, in military hospitals and supports military families during deployments and emergencies.
Fifth Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Each year, SJI demonstrates our core value of “community” with our Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service. On Monday, January 17, 2022 South Jersey Gas employees, along with all our parent company SJI, participated in activities to give back to the community while remaining safe and healthy. As part of the activities, we continued our ongoing partnership with Stockton University. In addition, employees helped raise over $1,500 for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
Local Foodbank Events
Our Outreach Team regularly participates in community food distribution events to help customers get the Utility Bill Assistance they need. We’re here to help.
